Southern Dachshund Association Open Show – Pirbright

Sunday 20th June 2010

Minor Puppy (4,1) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Oklahoma Sunrise, red dog 8 months of age. Compact, well covered, good head & eye, level topline on the move & standing. Tight elbows, moved confidently around the ring & well presented; 2 Cross’s Fengun Snowflake Chemistry, a beautifully marked silver dapple dog, 6 months old. He had a lovely houndy head, level topline & moved with drive. He does need more ring training & a little less weight, but promising; 3 Newman’s Fengun Monstrous Beastie.

Puppy (5,1) 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Sweet Caroline, red 8 month old litter sister to MP Dog. Very similar remarks apply. Very good front, super topline, tight elbows, had no problem with the grass as she moved powerfully around the ring BP; 2 Early’s Yelva Honey Princess, 9 month old red girl. Correct head & eye, lovely front, tight elbows, level topline & moved well, Unlucky to meet 1; 3 Early’s Yelva Cardamon Prince.

Junior (3) A hard decision as both 1 & 2 were quality exhibits. 1 McCarthy’s Nagshall Puppet On A String, red girl with a lovely front, tight elbows, level topline, good coat & strode round the ring showing her pads cleanly. She looked a picture; 2 Early’s Yelva Golden Princess, shaded red girl with correct conical head, good front, tight elbows, level topline & with good angulation she strode out covering the ground effortlessly. A little more body would complete the picture; 3 Cross’s Fengun Snowflake Chemistry.

Post Graduate (2) 1 Burge & Rossiter’s Willowheath Silver Moods At Creekpit, silver dapple dog. Beautiful houndy head with long ears, long neck into level topline, correct flat coat & strode out well. His outline was a joy to behold; 2 Early’s Jamiespring Harmony of Yelva, red bitch, good head, moved out well, just a little out of coat at the moment.

Limit (2) 1 Elsworthy’s Jamiespring Desert Flower, shaded cream, correct conical head, oval eye, long neck into good front, tight elbows, good length & spring of ribbing. Level topline with good angulation & covered the ground effortlessly; 2 McCarthy’s Nagshall All Guns Blazing, black & cream boy, moved out well, unfortunately not looking his best today.

Open (5) What a class, I was spoilt for choice. 1 Thomas’s Shenaligh Sweet Surprise, a black & tan bitch, beautifully put together with nothing exaggerated & yet so well constructed. A feminine bitch with super movement & ring presence BOB; 2 Cawley & King’s Creekpit Black Opal At Summerview, black & tan boy. This exhibitor presented him to perfection from his gleaming coat to confidently standing him to show off an outstanding outline before moving purposefully around the ring. A close decision RBOB; 3 Burge & Rossiter’s Rafthouse Rainbows End At Creekpit.

What a delightful show, welcoming committee, super venue and some beautiful dogs to judge.

Thank you.
