Dachshund Breed Appreciation Day and Multiple Choice Exam: SDA 28/9/19

The SDA will be holding a Breed Appreciation Day on Saturday 28th September 2019.

The Seminar provides an opportunity to learn about Dachshunds, whatever your current knowledge and experience. The speaker will be Ian Seath who will talk about the Breed Standard, how to “go over” a Dachshund and how to assess gait/movement.

For those who wish to take the Breed Council’s written exam (MCE) there will be an opportunity to do so in the afternoon. All participants can choose to sit the Multiple Choice Exam Paper which forms part of the current A2 approval criteria. The written paper requires a Pass Mark of 80%.

In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity to get hands-on experience with several different Dachshunds, supported by experienced owners, so you can appreciate how to judge a dog’s conformation on the table and to assess movement.

The venue is Pirbright Village Hall, The Green, Pirbright, Surrey GU24 0JE

Light, buffet lunch, plus morning and afternoon refreshments, are included in the ticket prices which are:

£15 Breed Talk, Hands-on & Lunch

£20 Breed Talk, Multiple Choice Exam, Hands-on & Lunch

The Seminar starts at 10:00, with coffee being served from 09:30.

Send a cheque, payable to Southern Dachshund Association. Confirmation will be e-mailed to you, with full information about the day sent nearer the time.

SDA “Have a go at dog showing” June 2019

8 newcomers to dog showing joined us for an hour-long practical session run in conjunction with our Open Show today.

Have a Go 2019.jpg

Tutors were Sue Seath and Jason Hunt who ran a mock class and helped the newcomers learn how to get the best out of their dogs. Some of the participants also stayed on after the session for 1-1 coaching and advice. We hope they enjoyed their day and look forward to welcoming them to our future events (shows and Fun Days).

The Handout we gave them can be downloaded here: Showing Guide for beginners.

We will be running a Breed Seminar in September. Details here.
